Lahore Press Club Appoints Abdul Rafay Afzal as Consultant for International Cooperation & Media Diplomacy

Lahore, Pakistan: In a significant move to enhance its global engagement and strategic media diplomacy, the Lahore Press Club (LPC) Pakistan’s largest and most influential press institution has appointed Abdul Rafay Afzal as Consultant for International Cooperation & Media Diplomacy.

The appointment, confirmed via official notification by LPC President Muhammad Arshad Ansari, acknowledges Afzal’s growing role in global media relations, youth diplomacy, and cross-institutional collaboration. The role is consultative in nature, supporting LPC’s efforts to expand partnerships across borders, engage foreign institutions, and advance Pakistan’s international media outreach.

“This appointment acknowledges your distinguished contributions in advancing international journalism, youth diplomacy, and cross-institutional cooperation, as well as your facilitation of multiple international academic and media linkages for the Club and its members,” the notification reads.

A Bridge Between Journalism, Diplomacy & Law

Abdul Rafay Afzal, a Lahore-based international lawyer, journalist, and global policy advisor, currently serves as:

  • Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate Post, an international diplomacy and media platform read in over 45 countries

  • President (Youth) of Civil Society Network Pakistan, a national civic initiative promoting youth-led governance reform

  • Legal & Policy Consultant, specializing in international cooperation frameworks, institutional development, and municipal diplomacy

He has spearheaded various Type-II diplomacy proposals involving cross-border cooperation between Pakistan and Africa, Asia, Europe and beyond. Afzal’s role at LPC will include advising the club on foreign institutional linkages, engaging in global correspondence, and proposing collaborative mechanisms for journalist exchanges, training opportunities, and policy-based media diplomacy.

International Recognition & Future Goals

In recent years, Afzal has gained prominence for conducting exclusive interviews with international leaders including ministers from Gibraltar, Somaliland, and the Council of Europe and for promoting academic and municipal cooperation via The Advocate Post’s outreach.
