The U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly criticized India’s recent missile strikes on Pakistan-administered Kashmir, describing the attacks as a “shame.” Speaking at the White House on May 6, 2025, Trump expressed concern over the escalating hostilities between the two nuclear-armed nations, stating that he had just been informed about the developments. His brief statement reflects apprehension about the intensifying conflict in the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
The missile strikes, part of India’s “Operation Sindoor,” targeted multiple sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bahawalpur. India claimed the operation was aimed at allegedly “terrorist infrastructure” linked to groups operating from Pakistani territory, in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, mostly Hindu tourists. Pakistan condemned the strikes as a “cowardly attack” on civilians and vowed a strong response . Pakistan also denied the Indian stance of targeting terrorists hideouts but civilian areas which is an absolute violation of International Law.
In response, Pakistan’s military reported shooting down two Indian fighter jets that had entered its airspace, capturing one pilot. The situation remains volatile, with both nations on high alert along the Line of Control. The international community is closely monitoring developments, urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further escalation.
The Kashmir conflict, ongoing since 1947, has fueled multiple wars and skirmishes between India and Pakistan over the disputed region. The recent escalation marks a significant deterioration in bilateral relations, with both sides taking military and diplomatic measures in response to the crisis.
As tensions continue to rise, the international community remains concerned about the potential for further escalation and urges both nations to prioritize dialogue and de-escalation to prevent a broader conflict.
