Jamaat-e-Islami has (JI) has started a nationwide ‘resistance-movement’ battling the extensive load shedding and the recently proposed budget, which he has described as not ‘people-friendly’, say reports from ARY News. The leader of the JI, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, said in a talk with media representatives in Lahore, they have organized a national stance striving towards peaceful resistance, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression, claiming that their alliance is with the 250 million people of Pakistan.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced a resistance movement protest outside electricity distribution company offices on june 28, while stating the movement concerns only public issues. In criticism of operation ‘Azm Istehkam Pakistan’, Naeemur Rehman has made it clear that the JI is not in the favor of it, explaining that it only creates more distance between the people and the institutions.

“The war on terror that started in 2001 has cost Pakistan a lot, including an economic loss exceeding $200 billion, how long will we fight this ‘blind war’? Everyone must has to sit together as this is most important issue right now” said the JI leader. In addition, he suggested that Pakistan, Afghanistan and China work together in collaboration to create stability and regional peace. Meaningful negotiations with Afghanistan are also emphasized, with reasoning regarding the resistance of terrorist activities and the tribes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.

On a much wider scale of political critique, Naeemur Rehman showed he had doubts about the future prospects of MQM-P, PPP, and PML-N; with PML-N, he supposedly senses its downfall. He has stated that he will be unable to support and further capacitate a system that is based in ‘lies’, mentioning his own decision to leave his seat in Karachi.
