Somaliland President Begins Official Visit to UAE

Hargeisa, Somaliland: In a significant diplomatic move, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), has today commenced an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The visit, which marks President Abdillahi’s first overseas trip since assuming office, was made possible by an official invitation from the UAE Government, which arranged for a special Royal Jet to facilitate his travel.

Who is accompanying the President?

Accompanying President Abdillahi on this historic trip is a high-level delegation that includes key government figures such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of the Presidency, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, the Chief of National Intelligence, the Senior Economic Advisor to the President, and the Director of the Presidential Office, among others. The First Lady of Somaliland, Her Excellency Farduus Mohamed Roble, is also part of the delegation, further highlighting the importance of the visit.

The President and his delegation are expected to stay in the UAE for three days, during which they will engage in high-level discussions with UAE leadership. These talks will focus on a wide range of issues, including trade, investment, and regional security, with the goal of strengthening the growing ties between the two nations.

One of the key elements of the visit will be President Abdillahi’s meeting with the Somaliland diaspora in the UAE. This event offers the President an opportunity to connect with Somaliland citizens living abroad, hear their concerns, and discuss ways they can contribute to the continued development of their home country.
