The Advocate Post: A cargo ship in Argentina was put under quarantine by health officials after one of their crew-members had sown symptoms of mpox. A spokesperson from the country’s health ministry has informed that an inspection is currently being carried out on the crew. The ship was anchored off its destination in San Lorenzo as of 6:10 pm, ET, according to ship tracking device MarineTraffic.

Medical personnel will go onboard to inspect the crewmembers for mpox symptoms, and if found positive, samples will be taken to be studied, after which the crew will be quarantined in the harbor until final results are available. The ministry has not yet revealed the number of people on board of the Liberia-flagged ship.

It called for enforced border health control measures in Argentina, after the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern due to an mpoxoutbreak in several parts of Africa. Other Latin American countries such as Colombia, El Salvador, Venezuela and Mexico have announced similar measures of surveillance.
