“Peruvian Gang Leader Gianfranco Torres-Navarro Arrested in New York After Illegal Border Crossing”

Peruvian gang leader Gianfranco Torres-Navarro has been arrested in the United States, according to officials. Torres-Navarro, 38, was apprehended in New York state after unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency stated that he is the leader of the Los Killers gang and is wanted in Peru. He is currently being held at a federal detention facility while awaiting immigration proceedings.

According to ICE, Gianfranco Torres-Navarro was initially arrested on May 16 after unlawfully entering the U.S. and was issued a notice to appear for immigration proceedings.

About two months later, authorities learned of his status as a wanted individual in Peru, leading to his arrest in Endicott during a “targeted enforcement action” on Wednesday. Senior state immigration official Thomas Brophy stated that Torres-Navarro represents a significant threat to communities and emphasized that New York will not serve as a refuge for dangerous non-citizens. Torres-Navarro, who is also known in Peru as Gianfranco 23 due to his alleged involvement in multiple murders, reportedly fled Peru after allegedly killing a retired police officer.
