Hargeisa, Somaliland – Abdul Rafay Afzal, Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate Post and President of the Civil Society Network Pakistan (Youth), met with Abdullah Muhammad Yusuf, Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Somaliland, during his official visit to the country.
Both held productive discussions on interfaith harmony, the role of Tabligh (Islamic preaching) in promoting peace, and the importance of religious freedom. DG Abdullah Muhammad Yusuf commended Pakistan’s contributions to Tabligh, particularly highlighting the significance of the Raiwind Ijtema, one of the largest Islamic gatherings in the world. He emphasized how such initiatives foster global unity and spiritual growth.
The meeting also covered Somaliland’s ongoing and future projects aimed at strengthening religious education and intercommunity dialogue. Abdul Rafay Afzal appreciated Somaliland’s efforts in maintaining religious tolerance and shared insights from Pakistan’s civil society experiences in promoting peace through youth engagement.
“This exchange reaffirms the power of faith and dialogue in bridging cultures,”
said Afzal.
“Somaliland’s commitment to religious harmony is commendable, and there is much to learn from their initiatives.”
The discussion marks a step toward deeper collaboration between Pakistani and Somalilander civil society and religious institutions in advancing shared values of peace and mutual understanding.
