Israel declares war on Palestine

The conflict between Israel and Palestinian fighters has escalated dramatically, with Israel declaring a “state of war” as violence continues to ravage multiple areas in southern Israel. This development follows a surprise attack by the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, the governing Palestinian group in Gaza.

Further complicating the situation, the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah launched mortar attacks into the occupied Shebaa Farms in solidarity with Hamas, prompting Israeli artillery responses.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s threat to transform Gaza into a “deserted island” has fueled expectations of an impending ground invasion. The toll is devastating, with 370 Palestinians and at least 600 Israelis reported dead, along with thousands injured.

Hamas justifies its large-scale operation as a response to ongoing Israeli brutality and its treatment of Palestinians. This includes violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities, assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque worshippers, and a distressing number of Palestinian casualties this year. The international community anxiously watches this crisis unfold, hoping for a swift resolution to prevent further loss of life and suffering.
