Hargeisa: Abdul Rafay Afzal, Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate Post, met with a delegation from Central Sky International Trading Co. of Taiwan during the Somaliland National Livestock Trade and Production Expo 2025, marking a significant moment for expanding international commercial engagement in Somaliland.
The delegation was led by Ms. Alyne Chen, General Manager, accompanied by Mr. Venson and other senior representatives. The discussion was focused on exploring investment opportunities in Somaliland, Pakistan and beyond, with particular attention to the livestock sector, trade facilitation, and value-chain development. Discussions also covered Central Sky International’s ongoing operations in other regions and how their global experience can be aligned with Somaliland’s strategic priorities.
A key highlight of the engagement was the announcement that Central Sky International Trading Co. is set to open and inaugurate one of the first modern quarantine centers in Berbera this week. This development represents a historic milestone for Somaliland’s livestock industry, strengthening biosecurity standards, improving export readiness, and enhancing confidence among international buyers and partners.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Expo, Abdul Rafay Afzal noted that the establishment of a quarantine facility in Berbera underscores Somaliland’s growing attractiveness to international investors and reflects the territory’s commitment to meeting global trade and health standards. The project is expected to support livestock exports, create local employment opportunities, and contribute to the broader economic diversification agenda also shows that the policies of the Government of Somaliland and Ministry of Livestock Fisheries and Rural Development under Minister Hon. Cumar Shucayb is attracting foreign investments.
