Lahore, Pakistan: Punjab Minister for Information, Uzma Bukhari, held an important meeting with Lahore Press Club (LPC) Acting President Afzal Talib, Member, Editorial Board of The Advocate Post, during which key matters relating to journalists’ welfare, housing development, and healthcare support were discussed in detail.
Acting President Afzal Talib, along with LPC Governing Body Member Ulfat Mughal, senior journalist Abbas Naqvi, and Rao Dilshad, welcomed the Minister upon her return to Pakistan and presented her with flowers. He also expressed gratitude for the release of LPC’s departmental grant by the Information Department, terming it an essential support for strengthening journalistic activities in the province.

Focus on Journalist Colony, Phase II and Development Works
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the pressing need to expedite development works in F-Block of the Journalist Colony, particularly the construction of the main entrance gate and pending LDA development tasks. The Minister responded positively, confirming that:
•CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz is personally monitoring the Journalist Colony Phase II project
•The government is committed to bringing the project to timely completion
•LDA’s Director General has been issued special directives to accelerate construction and finalize the F-Block entrance design
Uzma Bukhari emphasized that Journalist Colony Phase-II is
“a vital project linked to the future and expectations of journalist families.”
Health Cards for Journalists Across Punjab
The Minister announced that the Punjab Government is fully aware of the financial and health-related challenges faced by journalists. She assured that:
•Health cards will be issued to all Lahore-based journalists
•The program will soon be expanded to journalists in other major cities of Punjab
This initiative aims to provide sustainable healthcare protection for journalists and their families.
