Pakistan Rejects Afghanistan’s Ceasefire Request Amid Renewed Border Clashes

Islamabad- Pakistan has rejected an Afghan appeal for a halt in fighting following intense exchanges of fire along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, with security sources confirming the continuation of military operations.

The clashes erupted after Afghan (Taliban) forces attacked multiple Pakistani posts along sectors of the Durand Line. Pakistan responded with a “befitting reply,” targeting Afghan check-posts and positions destroying several posts and reportedly causing Taliban forces to withdraw.

Afghanistan had formally requested a cessation of Pakistan’s counteraction, but Pakistan declined, stating that operations would continue until perceived threats from across the border are neutralized.

Heavy cross-border shelling and gunfire remain active in multiple border sectors, with both sides exchanging fire intermittently.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated that

“no provocation will be tolerated,”

and affirmed that Pakistan’s forces remain on high alert.

The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected as diplomatic efforts and military maneuvers unfold.
