Trump Announces Full Ceasefire Between India and Pakistan

Islamabad, May 10, 2025 —  U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following a night of intensive negotiations mediated by the United States. The announcement comes after a significant escalation in hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, which had resulted in missile and drone exchanges, leading to civilian casualties on both sides.

In a statement shared on his social media platform, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, praising both nations for their decision to prioritize peace. He stated, “Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence.”

The ceasefire agreement was confirmed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, who had been involved in high-level discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The talks were described as “intensive” and aimed at de-escalating the situation and preventing further violence.

Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhamad Ishaq Dar, has ratified the agreement, emphasizing the country’s commitment to peace and regional stability. The Pakistani leadership has also expressed readiness to engage in further dialogue on bilateral issues in a neutral setting.

This development marks a significant step toward reducing tensions in the Kashmir region and restoring peace between India and Pakistan. While the immediate cessation of hostilities is a positive outcome, both nations have indicated the need for continued dialogue to address underlying issues and ensure long-term stability in the region.

The international community has welcomed the ceasefire agreement, viewing it as a hopeful sign for peace in South Asia. However, analysts caution that sustained diplomatic efforts will be necessary to build trust and resolve the complex issues that have historically fueled tensions between the two countries.

As of now, both India and Pakistan have agreed to halt military operations along the Line of Control and are expected to engage in further discussions to formalize the terms of the ceasefire and explore avenues for lasting peace.

The people of Pakistan, especially those in regions affected by the recent conflict, are hopeful that this ceasefire will pave the way for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
