The Advocate Post: Ukraine has reportedly destroyed a second strategic bridge in Russia’s Kursk region, releasing aerial footage of a strike on a bridge over the Seym River in Zvannoe. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the incursion’s aim is to create a “buffer zone” to prevent attacks from Russia. This marks Ukraine’s largest offensive on Russian territory since the invasion in 2022. Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk of the Ukrainian Air Force emphasized the military’s focus on depriving Russian logistics through precision airstrikes, which have significantly impacted the dynamics of the conflict. The footage shows the bridge had taken substantial amounts of damage, though the exact timing of the strike remains unclear.

Earlier in the week, Ukraine targeted another bridge over the Seym River near Glushkovo, previously used by Russian forces for supply routes. Military analysts identified three crucial bridges in the area, two of which are now either destroyed or severely damaged. Nearly two weeks into this offensive, Ukraine’s intentions to maintain and expand its presence in Russia are becoming evident. President Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian forces are fortifying their positions in Kursk and extending further into Russian territory. He described the operation as more than just defensive, aiming to weaken Russia’s military capabilities and create a buffer zone to prevent future attacks on Ukraine.
