Kamala Harris soon to announce her running mate for the US election

News Desk

The Advocate Post: Vice-President Kamala Harris is set to announce her running mate by Tuesday, concluding two weeks of speculations as the US approaches the November presidential election. Over the weekend, Harris interviewed the top contenders for the position in Washington DC, which includes Josh Shapiro, Tim Walz, and Mark Kelly

Her selected running mate will join her on her five-day campaign tour across seven cities this week, as Vice President Harris intensifies her campaign in key battleground states. According to a recent CBS, Harris and Trump are in a tight national race, with Harris taking the lead with one point over Trump. The same poll shows them tied in the battleground states, where Trump previously led with five points when Joe Biden was still in the race.

Following the announcement on Tuesday morning, upon releasing a campaign video, Harris and her new running mate will hold a rally in Philadelphia that evening. She met with her vetting team – led by former US attorney general Eric Holder – over the weekend and received detailed presentations on the candidates’ political vulnerabilities. On Sunday, she met with Minnesota Governo Tim Walz, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. She had also met Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Friday and spoke with the other candidates virtually, said US media reports.
