A warehouse in Russia’s southwest Voronezh region was attacked by a Ukrainian drone strike on July 7th.
After Ukrainian drone attacks a warehouse allegedly storing munitions within Russian borders and triggering a state of emergency in Russia’ southwestern Voronezh region, Moscow vows to give a response. The drone attack was in a settlement in the Podgorensky district, reports Voronezh governor AleksandrGusev. The warehouse was supposedly attacked because it stored ammunition used to supply Russian troops in Ukraine, says Ukrainian sources.
Governor Gusev says a number of UAVs were found around Voronezh region, all of which were destroyed, and a fire had broken out at a warehouse because of their fallen wreckage. Explosions had started in the Podgorensky district. Currently, he hadn’t yet identified the settlement that was attacked, but has declared a state of emergency in the territory. There were no recorded injuries as of now, but two elderly women were taken to the hospital for check-ups.
Evacuations of residents from the area and nearby villages have been made, with operational services, military and officials working on the site to eliminate the emergency, said the Governor.
“So far, some 50 people from three settlements have been transported to temporary accommodation centers”
he said, adding that they’re providing all the necessary assistance.
In a broadcast following the attack, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the president has declared they would respond, which will most likely be true in the foreseeable future.
