Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar Delivers Powerful Speech in Senate: Reaffirms Confidence in Pakistan’s Armed Forces

The Advocate Post: Senator and former caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, delivered a resolute and wide-ranging speech in the Senate of Pakistan this week, addressing national defense preparedness, regional tensions, and what he described as the aggressive ideological shift within India.

Speaking about Pakistan’s defense capabilities, Kakar assured the nation that the country’s land, air, and naval forces are in “secure hands” under the leadership of a highly professional and battle-hardened military. Reflecting on his 7–8-month tenure as caretaker Prime Minister, he stated:

“The current Army Chief [General Asim Munir] is swift in decision-making and clear in his vision. My working relationship with the armed forces during critical moments, including tensions with neighboring countries, proved to me that Pakistan’s defense is robust, responsive, and capable of confronting any external threat.”

Kakar emphasized that while Indian media and personnel have often attempted to provoke conflict, Pakistan’s response would be proportionate and unflinching if pushed to the brink.

“If we are forced, we will respond eye for eye, village for village, city for city, and country for country. Those considering aggression should think a thousand times—we are prepared for anything,” he warned.

Criticism of India’s Ideological Shift

The Senator was particularly critical of what he described as India’s transformation from a secular democracy to a majoritarian state under the influence of Hindutva ideology. He pointed out the increasing marginalization of minorities—Muslims, Christians, Dalits (whom he referenced as “Magas”), and others—under current policies.

“India was once liberal and secular. Now it demands that minorities culturally identify as Hindus. We have witnessed amendments and actions aimed at snatching away the basic rights of these communities,”

Kakar said.

He cited slogans like “Pehle Kasai, Phir Esai” (first the Muslims, then the Christians), noting that such rhetoric reflects a broader effort to force religious conformity and justify mob lynching under a veil of nationalism.

Concerns Over Indian Interference in the Region

The Senator also raised concerns about India’s growing influence over its smaller South Asian neighbors, including Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, alleging that New Delhi had made gains in asserting its dominance over these nations.

“Who is left to resist? Pakistan,” Kakar said. “With 240 million people and a transitional democracy, Pakistan has maintained its independent standing. Among the community of nations, only Pakistan has the courage and capacity to counter India.”

He added that Pakistan’s armed forces are “battle-hardened” and that their experience on the front lines stands in stark contrast to the peacetime training of military personnel from P5 nations.

Accusations Against Indian State Over International Attacks

Kakar also referenced recent revelations by Canadian and American authorities, which implicated Indian state actors in alleged overseas attacks on Sikh dissidents. He described Indian politicians as “goons” who publicly boast about targeting Pakistani officials, yet still harbor ambitions of becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

“This is the kind of nation we are up against—threatening, coercive, yet desperate for international recognition,” he said.

A Call for Unity and Resolve

Concluding his speech, Senator Kakar called on Pakistanis to remain unified and steadfast in the face of regional provocations. He reiterated the unmatched professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and highlighted General Asim Munir’s leadership as a pillar of national strength.

“Every soldier, from a lieutenant to the Chief, has faced the fire of battle. They are not products of simulation but of real war. We must trust them and stay vigilant.”

The impassioned address drew significant attention in the Senate, as well as on social media, where many users praised Kakar’s assertive tone and his defense of national sovereignty and regional stability.
