began President-Elect Irro in his address. Reflecting on the recent loss of former President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Silanyo), Irro expressed condolences and emphasized the need for national unity during this period of mourning.

“There should not be celebrations of the announced election results. Instead, let us pray for the deceased and remind ourselves of his noble history and the good morals he led our nation with.”

Irro lauded the peaceful conduct of the elections, which he described as a victory for all Somalilanders.

“This election was not one of winners and losers; it was the election of promoting brotherhood, unifying, and moving our country forward. All of us have won—the nation of the Republic of Somaliland has won.”

The President-Elect extended gratitude to key stakeholders, including the outgoing government, the National Electoral Commission, and international observers, for their roles in ensuring a credible election process.

Irro pledged to ensure equal rights for all Somalilanders, promising that every citizen would live

“in harmony in front of their flag without being a victim of their political views and personal thoughts.”

He called for collective efforts to build a brighter future, urging citizens to forgive past grievances and focus on national development.

“Let’s all forgive each other, move forward, and work together to make a better future for our children. May God bless Somaliland and its people,”

Outgoing President Muse Bihi Accepts Defeat with Grace

In a separate address from the presidential palace, outgoing President Muse Bihi commended the election as a national achievement and congratulated the Waddani Party on its victory. Bihi reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles, stating,

“I made a promise during the campaign to accept the results, and so I must honor that commitment.”

Reflecting on the peaceful election process, Bihi expressed gratitude to voters, security forces, and the National Electoral Commission.

“Thanks to Allah, we held these elections in a manner that made our enemies sad but brought joy to our genuine friends. It was a dignified moment for Somaliland, demonstrating our commitment to nation-building.”

While acknowledging the disappointment of his Kulmiye Party’s loss, Bihi emphasized the democratic spirit of the elections.

“If the public chooses another party, that is the nature of democracy. The elections were never about empowering a particular person or party but about strengthening the unity and addressing the issues of Somaliland.”

Bihi urged his supporters to accept the results with grace and focus on the nation’s collective progress.

“This is not a day for quarrels or disputes. It is a day we all have won,” he declared.

He also addressed the emotional reactions from his supporters, particularly the youth.

To those who may be upset or disheartened by what is being said on social media, I urge you to stay calm. If you want to develop this country, accept the result. Let us focus on building our nation together.

Bihi concluded with a message of unity:

“Somaliland nation is victorious today. As you voted peacefully for nation-building, now work with the President-elect who carries a heavy responsibility. Be more tolerant and take good care of your country. Let us all work together, for the future of Somaliland is in our hands.”
