DSP CTD Ali Raza assassinated in Karachi during target killing

News Desk

Unidentified assailants gunned down Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Investigations Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Ali Raza in Karachi’s Karimabad area on Sunday.

Two shooters targeted the senior police officer near a nearby residential building. The officer was good friends with another senior superintendent police (SSP) officer who was also killed, Chaudhry Asla

After the perpetrators opened fire, Ali was shot in the head and rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he passed away while receiving treatment.

According to police, one of the armed guys was wearing an ajrak, a traditional shawl with block prints from Sindh, while the other shooter was wearing a helmet to cover his face. They stated that the perpetrator targeted the senior cop with a 9mm pistol equipped with a silencer.

According to them, Ali used to regularly travel to the region to see his boyhood pals, which raised doubts that the assassins had done a thorough reconnaissance before carrying out the attack. From the crime scene, the police also discovered eleven expended 9mm handgun bullet casings.

Speaking to reporters after Ali was killed today, CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asif Aijaz Shaikh declared that the attack’s perpetrators would not be spared at all. He attested to the fact that the dead cop “uses a bullet-proof vehicle.”

In response to a query about potential threats against DSP Ali, Shaikh stated that “all CTD officers face threats.” He went on to say that there were two attackers who shot Ali eleven times.

DIG Shaikh went on to say that it would be premature to speculate about the attack’s motivations, which will be determined following a careful investigation.

Senior CTD officers Raja Umar Khattab, Mazhar Mashwani, and Khurram Waris inspected the crime scene after the incident.

The entire area was roped off by large groups of police enforcement. In an effort to determine the reasons for the tragedy, police officers began gathering evidence from the crime site.
